PS Plugins Photoshop · free · no account

The other half of the brain.

Five panels I built because the step I needed was missing from Photoshop, not because the world needed another plugin. Each one does roughly one thing. None of them ask for an account, and none of them send anything anywhere.

FX by SSP

In use

Cutout FX for a flat piece of art. Two modes: Relight reads the artwork’s own alpha and luminance and bakes a per-pixel light straight onto it as a Smart Object. Glass wraps it in a real glass look built entirely from native layer styles, so it stays editable after the fact.

  • Relighting a flat cutout to match a new background’s light direction
  • Wrapping a UI tile or icon in a frosted-glass look without flattening it
  • Keeping the result editable, since Glass mode is only ever layer styles

Asset Bakery

In use

One layered file in, every named asset out. Scans a document’s layers or groups and exports each one as its own file, keeping whichever base layers you choose visible under every export. Prefix and suffix renaming, plus an optional combined copy, come along with it.

  • Exporting a batch of character or UI variants from one master file
  • Keeping a shared background or base layer under every exported variant
  • Renaming a whole export pass to match a build pipeline’s naming

HueGotThis

Weekend build

A palette from any image, straight to swatches. Point it at reference art, a screenshot, or a mood board, and it pulls a working colour palette in as real Photoshop swatches, ready to paint with instead of eyedropping the same image over and over.

  • Pulling a palette out of reference art before starting a new piece
  • Keeping one consistent palette across a project from a single mood board
  • Quick palette matching when art directing off a photo reference

PS Masterkit

Daily use

Every tool I reach for, kept in one panel, two tabs. Layers is the general toolkit: the small layer and document actions that used to mean hunting through menus. Rename is the same renamer as the standalone plugin below, kept right beside it for whenever switching panels would be the slower way to do it.

  • The layer and document utilities used most, without leaving the panel
  • Batch-renaming a hundred layers or artboards in one go, by pattern
  • Switching between general tools and the renamer without hunting for a second plugin

PSRenamer

Ships standalone

Renames a hundred layers or artboards in one pass, by pattern. The same renamer that lives inside PS Masterkit’s second tab, packaged on its own for whenever the rest of the kit is more than you need installed.

  • Batch-renaming a hundred layers or artboards in one go, by pattern
  • Getting just the renamer without installing the rest of PS Masterkit
  • Matching a build pipeline’s naming across a whole document at once
